Loreena Hill is a lecturer (teaching and research) at the School of Nursing & Midwifery, Queen’s University, Belfast. Until November 2020 she worked as a heart failure nurse with prescribing authority for nearly 15 years in the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust. Her main research interest is heart failure in particular patients with advanced heart failure symptoms and those with an implanted device.
She currently leads on two European projects and supervises a number of regionally funded projects. She has published in high impact journals and was the lead author of the recently published position statement by the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the European Society of Cardiology on integrating a palliative approach into HF management. In August 2020 she was elected onto the executive board of the HFA and she is also chair of the Palliative Care Taskforce.
